Blood Tests

From time to time your Doctor or Nurse will advise you to have a blood test.

Blood tests must be authorised by a Clinician before an appointment is made.

Blood sampling is usually done in the morning, as the labaratory needs to have the samples by early afternoon.

There are allocated appointments earlier in the day for people requiring fasting specimens to be taken.

You will be advised if your test requires fasting. If fasting is required then it should be from 12 hours prior to the test.

You should only drink water during that time. If this causes a problem because of your medication or underlying medical conditions then you should tell us.

Water refreshment is available in the surgery - please ask at Reception.
