Chaperone Policy

It is our policy to respect the privacy and dignity of our patients.

As part of some consultations a full examination may be required. All patients are entitled to have a chaperone (someone who will stay with them during the appointment) present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel this is required or it will help them feel more comfortable.

Wherever possible, if you think it would be helpful for one of our trained staff members to act as a chaperone then we would be grateful if this request could be made at the time of booking an appointment to ensure an appropriately trained member of staff is available.

If you would prefer to be examined at another time or by a health professional of the same gender as yourself please let us know and we will do our best to comply with your wishes.

You are welcome to have a family member or friend present to provide support if you wish.
